Day 1 | 15 Feb
Respected Course Director Smt PBS Usha elucidated how KVS training policyis designed to create true professionals in the respective fields.
Sri Biswa Bag lectured on KVS guidelines for school libraries. There are rules and regulations to follow everywhere and libraries are no exception. Learnt concepts like green library. Refernce books and textbooks can be excluded from 50% allocation of library budget for hindi and english books.
National Education Policy 2020 was taken by Sri Sunil Saini. Points noted: It's all for a holistic development. Librarians aim is to inculcate reading habit among students and teachers. Librarian should pay attention to K S & A: Knowledge (what to do?), Skill (how to do?) and Attitude (be willing to do). FLN has to be achieved by Class 3. Old system: 10 + 2. New pedagogical & curricular structure: 5 + 3 +3 + 4.
Participants were divided into groups.
ePortfolio is to be prepared in blogger.
Group activity: scrapbook for teachers containing bibliography of 50 useful books.
Day 2 | 16 Feb
Sri S K Dash, Associate Course Director, took a lecture on Communication skills. Types of communication: passive, assertive and aggresive. Characteristics of effective communication. Simplex (one way), duples (two way), half-duplex (two way, one at a time) and full-duples (two way, both simultaneously) communication networks.
Changing role of school libraries and librarians (by Sri Biswa Bag). We have moved from an agrarian society to informative society. Library users (students) have become more tech savvy and tech dependant. Librarian must be equipped.
Creating an ePortfolio was taken by Sri Adesh Kumar.
Day 3 | 17 Feb
Development of 21st century skills was taken by Sri V V A Rao. Importance of life skills was highlighted with an interesting activity on rating the most important items while being shipwrecked.
An important session on eGranthalay 4.0 was taken by Sri Sunil Saini. EG4 offers the freedom to choose the fields appearing in cataloguing window. Option to atttach an e-document with catalogued items and thus build a digital library is also a great. We URLS can also be linked to items.
Day 4 | 18 Feb
A session on role of library as per NCF was taken by Sri Sunil Saini. Intelectual property can be literary, artistic or scientific. Use of national legislation to property IP. Copyright originated in UK in 1509. The word plagiarism comes from latin plagiare, meaning to kidnap.
Session: eNewsletter to promote library activities (Sri Adesh Kumar). Enhance communication and community engagement. How to create a newsletter using Publisher.
Day 5 | 19 Feb
Sri Adesh Kumar cleared doubts about newsletter making.
A session on library management was taken by Sri Biswa Bag. Collection develiopment and library records maintenance was taught.
Sri Avinash Dash took a class on Rajbhash Hindi.
Session on serial control using EG4 was taken by Sri Sunil Saini. Difference between volumes and issues was cleared.
Day 6 | 20 Feb
An exhaustive session on various KVS and GOI flagship programmes was taken by Sri Rajesh Kumar Gartia.
Afternoon session was about library blog creation and maintenance and was taken by Sri Adesh Kumar. Blogger was used for blog creation.
Day 7 | 21 Feb
Sri Biswa Bag took a very useful session on Stock verification and weeding out of books. Calculation of depreciation was taught with examples.
A highly energetic class on personality development was taken by guest lecturer Smt Smarnika Panda.
Afternoon session was taken by Sri Adesh Kumar and was about OER (Open Educational Resources).
Day 8| 22 Feb
Mr Sunil Saini took class on cultivation of reading habit among students and teachers. What hinders growth of reading habit?
The next session was taken online by Mr Mujeeb Rehman KU. It was about library learning space redesigning.
The afternoon sessions were a visit to KIITS Central Library, a very enriching experience.
Day 9 | 23 Feb
Creating a virtual library using Wakelet, taken by Sri Adesh Kumar.
Inclusive education was taken by Sri Sankarsan Jena.
In the afternoon participants displayed their e-portfolios for all to see.
